Visual Basic 6, SSO and MSSCCPRJ.SCC

When opening a project with SOS as SCC the project isn't automatically recognised as belonging to source control and needs to be re-added.
From these forums I have gathered that this is because MSSCCPRJ.SCC cannot be correctly created by SOS on the client, which is the fie that indicates that the project belongs to source code control.

If I check it out from the SourceSafe IDE first, then SOS will be able to open it correctly thereafter, but obviously having to use SS some of the time and SOS the rest isn't ideal.

The recommendation elsewhere on these forums is to "Open from Source Control", but that's not an option in VB6.

How can I correctly open a VB6 project using SOS as the SCC system without getting the latest version with SourceSafe first?

The menu item for open from source control is different for VB 6.

In VB 6, look under Tools->SourceOffSite->Create Project from SourceOffSite.

This will allow you to open the project from source control.
