"Update Bugs" field not displayed when adding new

Post by jmetcalfe » Mon Mar 13, 2006 2:21 pm

Server/Client version 3.1.6

We use SGV/FogBugz integration. The "Update Bugs" field exists and works great when checking in changes to files already added to the Vault. However, when adding new files to the Vault the "Update Bugs" field does not display in the check in dialog box.

Is there some way to get this field to appear?

Our work around has been to check the file in, check it back out, make a change and check it back in using the "Update Bugs" field that now displays. As you may imagine this is a big pain when checking in a large number of files.

Thanks!
Josh

"Bug ID" no required

A little more info if needed:

In the Admin interface we do not require a "Bug ID", as it is called in the Admin tool, to be entered.

Are you using the Vault GUI Client?

If you're using the GUI Client with Auto-Commit (VSS mode), then the Add Files/Folders dialog will immediately add items to the database. A workaround would be to temporarily switch the client to CVS mode (Tools->Options->Concurrent Development Environment). This will cause the Add operation to sit in the Pending Change Set until it is committed. When you commit the change set, the Commit dialog will have the "Update Bugs" dialog.

I'll add a feature request to allow bug updates from the Add Files/Folders dialog.

Linda,

Thanks. Yes we use the client with VSS. (Which was a very nice transition from VSS if I may add.)

I tested your workaround. That will work. It's less steps than our current work around.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Actually, rather than use CVS mode, you can just disable auto-commit.
