Icky situation

Post by frizzo » Thu Feb 09, 2006 1:49 pm

I have the following things installed:

VS2003
VS2005
Visual Source Safe - integrated into VS2003
Vault 2.0.6 - not integrated into anything
Vault 3.1.2 - currently not integrated into anything

I would like to integrate Vault 3.1.2 into VS2005, however that shouldn't break the integration of Source Safe into VS2003.

How do I pull of a trick like that?

Thanks

I can't think of a reason off the top of my head why integrating Vault into VS2005 would break VSS integrating with 2003. Are you running into specific problems?

Well, don't you have to set Vault as the default SCC provider? And, if that is the case, wouldn't that make VSS not the default provider, thus breaking VSS integration into VS2003?

VS2005 allows setting the SCC system on a per-project basis. However, an initial install of Vault may override the 2003 default setting as well, so you may have to set it back after the Vault install.

I'd suggest playing around with it until you can use both. There may be hiccups, but I'm pretty sure that once things are setup correctly, you will be able to use both (as long as you are not trying to use both Vault and VSS in VS 2003).
