Hello,
In setting up a repository yesterday I added one folder as a test (it actually ended up adding the sub folders as well). I decided to delete the folder and sub-folders then used the vault admin to obliterate those folders.
Today I added the folder again (this time just the one I really wanted). That seemed to go okay so I then decided to test what happens when I choose "Get Latest Version". Well I did that and it deleted everything it had imported the first time. It left all the files that weren't added. I then did the "Get Latest Version" again and it pulled down the files that I just added a little while ago.
So it seems that even though I obliterated something (so that there was no trace of it every being there), some piece is left over causing this problem. Basically, I lost the files from that sub-folder that was added yesterday since it wasn't in there this time to retrieve the files.
Deleted Files From Local Copy that it shouldn't have

It was nothing special - just do exactly what I did.
Create new install/repository.
From Client as user:
Setup as CVS mode.
Setup working directory to existing source tree on HD.
Add a directory and sub-directory with files in each (wasn't every file).
Delete the main directory (which deletes the sub dir).
Exit client:
Go to Admin (I went to server) signed on as admin:
Choose obliterate
Those items show up, highlight all and obliterate them.
Exit Admin.
Next Day - Run client:
Add the one main folder again (no sub folder)
Right click it and choose Get Latest Update.
It will delete the files deleted yesterday that were obliterated.

I followed the steps that you had specified but was not able to reproduce the problem. We could use more information. Can you tell me what version of Client/Server are you using? and when you do a "Get latest version" on the main folder that you added the second time, what options did you select in the Get Latest Version dialog? eg, what is the path to the working folder
Sorry for the hijack, but this post is rather stale and the my subject matches this one....
One of our users is reporting that over the past two weeks, when he does a get latest (overwrite), 90% of his files on his local machine are getting deleted (this has happened twice over the two week period). Going back to the client, it reports them as missing. Doing another get latest retrieves all of them correctly.
After the first time it happened he deleted the vault cache. This morning it happened again.
We are running version 3.1.2 on server/client.
Have you seen this before?
Thanks,
Mark

We were not able to reproduce ddd's problem, and have not seen this reported anywhere else.
If you could reliably reproduce this, that would be helpful. You could turn on client logging, which may or may not reveal more info, but if you can get it to happen every time, we could send debug builds to you to help track it down.
Is it possible the files in the repository were actually deleted, and you had the Repository Deletions option in the Get dialog set to delete local files?
