"Incorrect format of serialnumbers" in SOS 4.0 log

Post by lbauer » Tue Mar 30, 2004 4:58 pm

We have had some reports of the SOS server generating a demo serial number in a 3.x rather than 4.0 format. An SOS 3.x serial number will not be valid for a 4.0 server.

If you are unable to start the SOS Server service, check the log.txt file in the SourceOffSite Server directory. Do you see this error message?

3/29/2004 5:29:11 PM - Ignoring old serialnumber 1
3/29/2004 5:29:11 PM - Incorrect format of serialnumbers
3/29/2004 5:29:11 PM - Error starting up server. Stopping now....

If so, please use this 4.0 demo serial number. It's for 10 users and is good for 30 days from the date of this post: 00000000000a4091154c0004c2607857

We will have a fix for this soon.

Server does not start in demo mode

Post by Thomas » Mon May 10, 2004 8:41 am

Hello!

I've tried to install SourceOffSite Server 4.0.0 Professional - With Cryptography on my machine, but it won't work.

First I got the error "Incorrect format of serialnumbers", so I tried
the demo mode serial number "00000000000a4091154c0004c2607857".
But this serial also doesn't work - it's expired, because at the mean time
we have middle of may and this serial was posted on march 30th.

So what can I do now?

Thomas

Contact me via email (if you haven't already) and I'll send you another demo license.
