Due to the large amount of developers on the same software project, we disabled the 'Exclusive Checkout' in VSS.
We use SOS 4.0 Server and Client. But sometimes it happens, that files are checked out and when they are checked in, it's not really done. The affected files are marked as renegade.

Are you using the integrated client in Visual Studio to do your check out and check ins?
Do you know how to reproduce the problem? If so, stop your SOS Service, delete or rename the log file, restart the Service, attempt a check in that will fail as described, and then email me the new log file from the Server.
