Check-in problem

Post by behold » Thu Jan 26, 2006 2:48 pm

Several of us have problems with check-ins. It appears that sometimes Vault will include an "add folder" or "add file" task on the check-in list for a folder or file that already exists. The check-in fails because of that. If we uncheck those tasks, the check-in runs to completion. Any ideas about what is causing this and how to fix it?

THank you

You might be seeing "orphaned" transactions. For instance: let's say you add a file, but the entire transaction fails because of some other item in the pending change set. You fix that and try to add a file again. This time it succeeds, but the failed "add file" is still sitting in the pending change set and must be manually undone. Does that describe what you're seeing?

Checkin issue

That might be correct if those orphaned tasks can persist. If a checkin error occurred with a group of files, then exit Vault and come back later, would those tasks still be there with the next checkin-attempt. What do you suggest we do to correct this and prevent it in the future?

Thank you
Brian
