Encryption Version

Post by mstoler » Wed Jan 25, 2006 6:48 pm

Hello,

Is the Sourceoffsite version any slower then the version without encryption.

I will usually use my VPN to access Sourceoffsite. However I assume that if I purchase the version with encryption I can open port 8888 on my firewall and bypass the VPN?

Encryption shouldn't noticeably slow down SOS.

You don't need a VPN to use SOS, so yes, you could configure 8888 as the secure port in the SOS Server manager and connect using encryption. Note: in SOS 3.5.3, the default secure port is 8890 and in 4.1.2 it is 8081. But you can change this to any port not already in use.
