Is SOS 4 compatible with VSS 5.0

I am evaluating SOS 4, what with the multi-processor problem on SOS 3.5.

When the SOS client logs-in and attempts to connect to our VSS 5.0 database, it is failing. The log.txt file reveals:

30/03/2004 16:20:32 - 1: Exception during Login: QueryInterface for interface SourceSafeTypeLib.IVSSDatabase failed.

Using Visual Basic I have looked at the Microsoft VisualSourceSafe typelib and VB reports that there is an interface called VSSDatabase. Any ideas why it cannot connect? VSS 5.0 is installed properly and works fine.

So, from that I can presume SOS 4.0 does not work with VSS 5.0? We would need VSS 6.0 client (which would no doubt supply the appropriate object/type library) to access a VSS 5 database? So effectively we do need VSS 6? Effectively it will only work with VSS 6?

That's correct. SOS 4.0 does not support VSS 5, so you need a VSS 6 client on the SOS Server machine in order to access a VSS 5 database.
