Looks like something is interfering with the Import Tool's connection with the Vault Server. The IIS may have restarted, for instance.
Please email another copy of the Vault server log file to linda at sourcegear.com.

I've sent the logs for two imports, one with labels and one without, for the same project. The labels (in vault) appear to have the wrong dates. Is it the case that the whole srcsafe db needs to be imported for these to be accurate? I'm running a further experiement just importing the labels for the past year or so this morning.
Edit: i've sent some screenshots over to illustrate the label problem as well.

If you look at folder history in Vault 3.1.6, label dates may not correspond to the date of the label, but to the date of the version of the folder the label corresponds to. So if your folder was last updated on July 4, 2005, and you applied the label on Sept. 1, 2005, the label date is July 4, 2005 when you Show History on the folder. However, if you use the Show Labels command, you should see the actual date the label was applied.
I'm still reviewing your log files, etc. and will get back to you via email soon.

Ok thanks for the info I think I follow now - however, when you ask to display labels there appears to be no way to change the sorting from version number to date, or name etc? This results in a very confusing list for our db. Presumably the import tool is another factor - as labels which are chronologically older have newer version numbers which causes them to bubble up to the top of the list.lbauer wrote:If you look at folder history in Vault 3.1.6, label dates may not correspond to the date of the label, but to the date of the version of the folder the label corresponds to. FYI i've also been running analyze on the ss db and it does have some inconsistancies (which analyze says it's clears up but doesnt - i.e. if you run analyze repeatedly it says it's doing the same fixes over and over) but probably not enough to seriously hamper the import.
Speed is much better when done locally on my pc - but i'm not sure if this is down to processor time or just simply because our remote server runs SQL 2000 and i'm running 2005. The different is a day and a half as compared to an hour and a half (for the single test project).
With thanks.
We hope to improve the ordering of imported labels in a future release.there appears to be no way to change the sorting from version number to date, or name etc
Quite often archiving a VSS database clears up inconsistencies that Analyze misses.I've also been running analyze on the ss db and it does have some inconsistancies

Great - just being able to sort them or, additionally, search for one would be excellent.lbauer wrote: We hope to improve the ordering of imported labels in a future release.
Ok, thanks for the idea - i'm running an mass export now and then i'll recreate the db from that to see if it helps.lbauer wrote: Quite often archiving a VSS database clears up inconsistencies that Analyze misses.
