Manually set bindings

Post by Dino » Sun Jan 22, 2006 2:08 pm

How can I manyally set the bindings for my projects? Using 2005 and the latest Vault, it seems to "create" discrepancies all the time, and slowly all my projects are losing their bindings to source control. I cannot use the "bind" method in your dialog because of linked files outside the project root. As long as the bindings are ok the linked files don't cause an issue (and shouldn't) but they do mean I can't add the projects to Vault successfully.

One day I will switch the linked files for shared ones in Vault, but I have over 100 active projects with linked files, so I really don't have time to do it now.

Since VS requires all files under SCC to be within the project root, I'm not sure it will help to manually set them., as VS might just try to set them back.

Nonetheless, the only way to change the working folder is through the Vault GUI client. You can manually change which Vault folder is associated with the working folder by editing the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file, or using the Change Source Control command.

You might want to do a new Open From Source Control to a new working folder to set up everything fresh.
