Annoying screen (VS2005)

Post by gmagana » Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:48 pm

Why is this screen displayed (see attached) when I do a get latest on VS2005 (it showed up on VS2003 as well)? The prompt is useless since it does not even tell me the filename I am dealing with, and the screen pops up for every file that is obtained that is different than the local version.

Is there a way to turn it off and default to "yes"?

The setting in your dialog is to not overwrite any locally modified files, but to prompt for locally modified files. If you have "overwrite" selected, you'd see another dialog with the file info and you'd confirm whether to overwrite, merge or merge later.

The settings for this dialog are controlled in VS 2005 under Tools->Options->Source Control->Plugin Settings-> Advanced->General->Always display command dialog on Get Latest version, and Tools->Options->Source Control->Plugin Settings-> Advanced->Local Files->Modified working copy.

Update: I left out part of the path -- it's corrected now.

Similar location in VS.NET 2003, except in Source Control->SCC Provider, rather than Source Control->Plugin Settings.

I posted a question about this just about a year ago:

but there was never really a reply. I'm glad a resolution has been found; I'll make that setting change myself!
