Looked into that, but the project is way too young:

This first preview release of the VS 2005 Web Application Project download is not a final release of the product. There are several features that are not yet implemented, as well as a set of bugs that are currently active.

I'd rather keep the bugs I already than find new bugs and new work arounds...

An update of the timeline for Web Application Projects for VS2005, this is from the guy in charge of the project (posted on 11-Jan-06):

We are hoping to have a new build available within the next 3 weeks. This build will have more features implemented and be further along. We'll then do another release after this which should finish everything up.
