Vault 3.1.5 Performance

Post by colin.desmond » Mon Nov 21, 2005 11:42 am

We recently moved our Vault server to a new (faster) machine. At the same time we also upgraded from 3.0.6 to 3.1.5 (clients and servers). With the old client, we could connect to the server (after the login box to choosing the repository) in a couple of seconds, it now takes 45 seconds which cause problems for some of the other tools we use (seeing conenction timeouts)

I have just noticed that in the Mesasges window we're seeing the following message at the time the repository box appears

Version Check: An error occurred when trying to retrieve version.xml file from the SourceGear website

Any ideas how we can fix this drop in performance. I have just run the various DB admin tasks suggested elsewhere on this site.

Thanks

Colin

You can turn that check off in Tools-Options.

This has done the job, thanks. I guess Vault can't see through our proxies and times out eventually. I presume this is new functionality for the 3.1 series as we didn't see it in 3.0?

IDE Client

Does the IDE client perform this version check as well? We have one developer that is using a corporate configured computer and he has issues communicating with our vault server. The rest of the developers use non-corporate configured computers and they communicate with the server just fine. We're using 3.1.2.3511 for clients and servers. I'll upgrade to 3.15 after turkey day.

Yes, the IDE does perform the version check in 3.1.5. However, I noticed that it doesn't output anything to the Visual Studio output window. I'll log that as an issue.

Hi dan,

Is there any option to disable this for the IDE client or does it honor the setting of the stand alone client?

The one option setting affects both the GUI client and the IDE client.
