Of course I am talking about Vault 2 and Vault 3. I am consultant with several companies and, at my urging, at various times they've obtained Vault. So at one place I have my VB6 code in a Vault 3 database and at another place I have .NET code in a Vault 2 database. It seems that the VB6 IDE integration with Vault 3 doesn't work if Vault 2 client happens to be installed on the system. I've tried it with various versions of Vault 3.x (3.0.x, 3.1.x). Basically I can't even log in. Right after I click Ok on the login screen I get this: Server was unable to process request. --> Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
So my questions are as follows:
1. Is this a known issue and is there a workaround?
2. Can Vault 3 access Vault 2 databases? Will the IDE with either vb6 and vs2003/2005 suffer because I am accessing Vault 2 databases with a Vault 3 client?
Thanks
Getting along in this messed up world.

Vault 3.x clients cannot connect to Vault 2.x servers/databases, and Vault 2.x clients cannot connect to Vault 3.x servers/databases.
It is possible to have both versions of the client on the same machine, so that you can connect to two versions of the Vault server. Note that if you're using IDE integration, you'd need to edit the registry to switch integration between the two client versions.
