Force scan of working folder

Post by Ole Thrane » Fri Oct 28, 2005 3:10 am

Is it possible to force Vault to scan the working folder for changes (preferably using CRC checking)?

I find that quite often, Vault does not automatically detect my changed files which causes us a lot of problems.

The ability to force a scan would be a major help for us in these situations.

Ideally, it should be possible for the scan to show any differences between the working folder files and the files in Vault. Kind of like what Araxis does when comparing folders. That would be a super-killer feature.

Just FYI, we work in CVS mode.

There's a very thorough discussion of a similar issue at this link:

Does any of this fit your situation?

Force scan of working folder

As far as I understand your reply, it is possible to force a rescan by selecting 'Check In' from the context menu and cancelling the resulting dialog.

It is a bit 'hacky' but if it works it is good enough for me.

However, I still feel that you should include a 'rescan' button directly on the pending changes toolbar. That would be more obvious for users of the program.

I'll log "rescan button" as a feature request for Vault 4.x.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This feature has been implemented in Vault 3.5, due out this week.
