I have the following problem:
The Vault Client hangs with a status message of "Retrieving repository structure...". The only way to get past this is to kill the process from the task manager. It also hangs VS.2003 forcing me to kill it also.
It never hangs when being used from VS.2005.
This is what I think is happening: From VS.2003, I always get prompted to choose a profile, not matter how many times I select to use the default. Same from the Vault GUI Client. From VS.2005 I never get asked to choose a profile, it seems to remember the setting.
I think my connection is getting reset, courtesy of COMCAST. For the Vault GUI Client and VS.2003, since they don't know which profile to use, they somehow get stuck. VS.2005 works fine.
Any thoughts?

A few questions:
1. What version are you using?
2. Did the GUI client and VS2003 ever work on this machine? If so, did anything change on the machine right before it stopped working?
3. Do you have this problem with other users or other machines? You might try logging in as a different user (with different working folders) and see if the problem is the same. If they work fine, you might try removing all the client cache files for the existing user (but make sure everything is checked in first).
