Working folder state information is incompatible

Post by Speedbird » Wed Oct 19, 2005 2:24 pm

Hello,

I am using Vault 3.1.2.3511 with VS.NET 2003.

My computer had some problems and kept shutting down without saving the information. The problems are fixed now, but one particular project now has trouble checking in, out, viewing contents, etc.

The error message I get is as follows:

The working folder state information for "project" is incompatible with this version of Vault. Please choose a different working folder path. The specific compatibility exception was: Could not detect the file type in the supplied stream.

I imagine that some file must have gotten corrupted during one of the crashes, but I don't see any file in that project's working folder.

I have already completely deleted the solution and all projects in it and recreated them from scratch. I also created a new folder in the repository for the solution.

Thanks,

SA.

It sounds like the hidden state files are out of sync with the repository. These are baseline files stored in the _sgvault folder. This folder is located either in the working directory or with the rest of the client-side cache files:

When you delete the _sgvault folder, your file status will be unknown. You'll either need to get latest or use CRC's (Tools->Options->Local Files, available in Vault 3.1).
