Unable to open \\xx\xx\srcsafe.ini

Post by rpfeet » Tue Oct 11, 2005 2:27 pm

We are running Sourceoffsite Classic Server 3.5.2, and maybe every other week one specific database disappears from the database listings. The entry in the log is "unable to open \\xx\xx\srcsafe.ini. I can get around this by stopping and restarting the SOS service, but why does it happen in the first place? The SOS/VSS server hosts 16 databases and all have the same share and NTFS permissions. The replies to similar submissions don't seem to apply since our databases are on the server, and only one of 16 is having a problem.

Thanks.

It could be that there is some minor database corruption that prevents the SOS Server Service from opening the database. To repair database corruption see:

Thanks for the suggestion. We do run analyze.exe on three to four databases every weekend, but haven't stopped the SOS service prior to running it. I'll give it a try.
