Email notifications failure

Post by GregM » Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:08 pm

It appears that any Vault email notifications that are generated while the configured SMTP server is unavailable are simply dropped. A user checked in something tonight just before the time the nightly backup starts, and I didn't get the notification. I have notifications set for $, so I should definitely have received it.

Vault Server is 3.0.5.

That makes sense. I'll log a bug about it.

Any idea when this might be fixed?

This is being considered for 4.0, but I can't promise it.

How would you want it to work? I assume you would simply expect Vault to queue the message and retry it later? Just checking.

Yes, I would expect all messages to be queued, and only removed from the queue once they'd been successfully sent.
