Trouble changing user rights after upgrade to 3.1
Moderator: SourceGear
I have done some more testing and I have not been able to find a sure way of letting the admin tool hang. I can only say on which circumstances it does not depend:
- it does not depend on the number of actions (sometimes hanging occurs after maybe 10 changes, sometimes after just 2)
- it does not depend on the amount of time the admin tool is running
- it does not depend on the folder where the rights are changed
- it does not depend on the user whose rights are changed
- it can happen after granting or revoking privileges
I hope this is information is useful..

I don't know that the perflib errors have anything to do with the Admin Tool hanging, but see this forum post for a possible fix for the perflib issue:

I have made the change to the registry (I gave full control to ASPNET, just to be sure) and indeed the perflib errors have disappeared. Better still, I think the problem with the admin tool has also disappeared. I have just tested again and the admin tool quickly applied all changes without hanging. I can’t be absolutely sure the problem is solved now, but I do think that the perflib errors and the admin tool hanging were related. I also think there is a chance the incorrect security setting was caused by the installation of version 3.1 because before that there were no perflib errors.
All right, I’m glad it is solved now, or so it seems. Thanks for the help!

Just ran into problems again..
For a while I haven't changed any user rights. But today I had to change a security setting and the admin tool again hangs when I try to apply the change . This time, there are no suspicious messages written in the event log.
This evening, I will upgrade Vault to 3.1.1 to see if this remedies the problem.

If you continue to experience problems with this, we'd like to see a copy of the Vault server log file. Let me know what time in the log you experienced the Admin Tool hang. Email the log to Linda at SourceGear.com with the link to this post.

Still nothing in the log file
There are no messages written to the log file when the problem occurs. Just reports of people logging in or out. Also in this respect it is still the same problem as before.
3.1.1 : no change
I have just completed installing Vault 3.1.1. The problem with the admin tool hanging after a change in user rights is still there.
Am I really the only one having this problem?

Let's take another look at the log file. Enable debug logging (Admin Tool->Server Options->Logging), reproduce the hang and send me a copy of the Vault server log. Email linda at SourceGear.com

The only way we would be able to further troubleshoot this would be if we had a copy of your database. There may be an issue with the specific way your users, groups and permissions are set up. Contact me at Linda at SourceGear.com and we can make arrangements. We'd be happy to sign an NDA.

We had another report of an Admin Tool hang while assigning rights, which has been resolved:

If your database has many versions, you could be experiencing the same issue. Contact me via email if you'd like to pursue this further.
