No handler for revision event

Post by Guest » Fri Jan 28, 2005 10:42 am

I tried to import a VSS DB, and followed the recommendations in this forum and the import tools finished immediately with no errors reported.
But no files or folders had been imported to the vault. The import tool's log is full of messages begining with "No handler for revision event" following no filename or label name.

I tried importing a number of times with different versions of VSS but the result is always the same.

My VSS version is 6.0c + Hotfix, the import tool is 3.0.1

Can someone help?

The last time that I saw this error was because of a user with a non-english version of VSS. The VSS import tool depends on the VSS automation component returning english descriptions for the actions.

How to fix it.

close VSS client. in your VSS\win32 directory, try looking for DLL that is responsible for the foreign-language strings. for example, in my case, my directory contained SSUS.DLL (contains english strings) and SSJP.DLL (contains japanese strings). try renaming the foreign-language DLL (in my case, changed SSJP.DLL to _SSJP.DLL). restart VSS client and see if you get an English GUI. if so, then yay. close the VSS client and try the import tool again.
