Labels import speed

Post by bbetov » Thu Sep 22, 2005 12:44 pm

Hi,

we are trying to evaluate whether vault will work for us and I am trying to import our database (it has about 600 projects), but it is only 1GB and 10 users. It has history for about 5 yrs in it and LOTS of labels and many shared files. Actually most of the files are shared. We have labels for each build we do on our build server, so many labels done on project level. It is taking a very long time (36hrs so far and estimating 6 more days). The machine is not great, but it is dual 1.3GHz P3 with 2 GB RAM...

Is there a way to import the code first and import the labels later?

Thanks

Yes and no. Yes it's possible to do a two step import, but it requires a debug build of the importer. I would recommend that you don't need to import every build label, only the important release labels. I suggest stopping the current import, delete and obliterate the stuff that you imported, and start over, choosing many fewer labels.
