LAN

Hi,

What if your VSS database resides on another LAN how would you connect in that case? At work we conect to the other LAN through a VPN.
If I specify the machine name or navigate to the VSS db through amapped drive I still get a 1067 Error.

However I can successfully connect to VSS databases on the same LAN.

Thanx.

SOS is designed to access a VSS database on the same machine or same LAN as the SOS Server. To configure the VSS database in the SOS Server Manager you should use a UNC path, not a mapped drive. So the SOS Sever won't work with a remote database.

Even if you were able to connect to database on a different LAN, all the speed advantage of SOS would be gone, since the SOS Server would no longer be communicating with the VSS database at LAN speeds.
