This week I installed SOS 4.1.2 on a new server (we have used SOS 3.5.3 with great success for the past 3 years on a different server) & the performance has been horrible, e.g. it takes approximately 8 minutes to retrieve the contents of a single project & beforehand this took a few seconds.
Our VSS source code databases are fairly large ASP.NET applications with multiple folders but this hasn't changed recently. The new SOS environment is a dual Intel Xeon 2.6 GHz (hyper-threaded to create a 4 processor environment) with 2 GB of RAM running Windows 2003 SP1.
Our corporate policy dictates that virus scanning is enabled (I realize this is not recommended by SourceGear nor Microsoft) but it is enabled on our previous server too.
Does anyone have any idea on how to improve performance?
Poor Performance - SOS 4.1.2

I know it's counter-intuitive, but SOS performance can actually be worse on a multi-processor machine. See this KB article for info on optimal SOS configuration.
