I'm evaluating Vault 3.1.1 before rolling it out to the company, and I've found some feature requests.
1. View the folders in the right pane; our users are accustomed to windows explorer, and they think the folders are lost.
2. Automatically detect new files and folders, and add those to the "pending change set" tab, include the option to exclude e.g. release and debug folders, and other files. This option could be set on each folder, and act recursively.
3. Improve the "Detect new files" to also detect new folders
4. An option to automatically remove backup files (_sgbak) older than XX days.
5. Warn old clients that they are connecting to a newer server and need to upgrade. Now all the user see is some error message.
6. Drag and drop to move/share/branch files and folders. VSS has it
7. An ability to add or remove files and folders to/from the repository when doing a diff on a folder. Also a possibility to get latest version would be nice. Detect new files does half of this job, but I need a more finegrained synchronize tool.
8. An Explorer plugin that allows you to right-click a file in Windows Explorer and add [file/folder], check [out/in] and get latest version. This would be a killer plugin

Patrik

Thanks for your detailed list. We've had requests for many of these and I'll add your "vote."
Regarding item #5 -- the Vault 3.1 client does have an option for a version check at startup. It provides info on your client and server version, plus the version of the latest Vault release.

Not a bad list EXCEPT FOR #6!!!
Yes VSS had drag and drop for moving and creating shares and it was HORRIBLE! My view is that moving, branching and sharing are uncommon enough operations that you should have to take deliberate action to accomplish them as is currently the case in Vault.
Sorry, but I had to chime in on that one.
