We use VSOS Server 4.1 so that our users at another office can access SS over a VPN. There is one file that has conflicting version number for only one user.
On everyone else's computer using VSOS and SourceSafe 6.0, this file shows up as both local and remote version 79. However, on this one user's computer, it shows up as both local and remote version 80.
We have tried refreshing the project tree and even reinstalling the VSOS client on this user's computer. We last did a fix/analyze on the database last week, so it hasn't been long. The file version still comes back as 80 when it is really 79 for only this user, though. We are afraid that we are going to break something by checking it in/out, and are a little concerned that this may have happened to another file in our database.
Any ideas as to what could have happened and how to fix it?
Thanks,
-Scott

Try deleting the client cache file under C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\SourceGear\SOS\servers\<servername>\databaseX.sos.
The user will need to reset working folders after that.
If that doesn't help, have the user "Show Properties" on the file and let me know the results.
