Dear SG Support,

We use SourceOffSite 3.5.2 with a SourceSafe 6.0 database.

SOS and this SourceSafe directory works fine with other users.

We added a new user. This user can work with the same database from SourceSafe directly. When he tried to use the database via SOS, he gets a message that the password is wrong (the same username and password that works in SourceSafe. It matches the username in SOS, of course).

The log.txt (verbose mode is on) says:

Mon Aug 08 08:40:07 GMT+02:00 2005 - micshz17.micronas.com (192.168.38.167) - Connection Established
Mon Aug 08 08:40:22 GMT+02:00 2005 - micshz17.micronas.com (192.168.38.167) - Invalid password
Mon Aug 08 08:40:23 GMT+02:00 2005 - micshz17.micronas.com (192.168.38.167) - User "tosiczor" disconnected

What can we do to debug this?

Thanks and regards,

Paul Blenderman

I found out that the user accounts in VSS have no password set, so if they try to connect to VSS via SOS, they use username and no password.

Could this be the problem?

solved - users did not have a password

Yes, that fixed it. We just did not know these users had never received a password.

Yes, that would do it.

In cases where VSS is set up to use Network names for automatic user login, VSS users don't have specific passwords.

SOS doesn't support this type of authentication, so VSS users need passwords in VSS.
