Install on XP Pro

I see the specs for Vault indicate that Win2K Server or Win2K3 Server are required, but is it possible to install on XP Pro?

Yes, you can install Vault on XP Pro, if it meets the other system requirements:

If you have only a few developers, XP Pro could be adequate for the Vault Server. For info on Vault performance see this:

I tried installing it on an XP Pro machine running under Virtual Server so I can demo it at a conference. I got Vault installed, but could never get it configured. I always got a reply that the server couldn't be found.

We've run Vault on Virtual Server here for testing purposes.

What exact error message are you getting when you try to connect?

Here are some troubleshooting tips:

You can also send me the complete error message, the sgvault.log file from the server %windir%\temp sgvault directory (if there is one) plus the vault_install.log from your user's temp directory. Email to linda at SourceGear.com
