Commas in new folders

Post by awdavis » Mon Aug 08, 2005 10:44 am

Apparently sometime in the recent past, the ability to name folders with a comma went away. I know this seems superpicky, but we actually use commas separating information in folder names, and this is a real pain. We just noticed the other day, but I didn't bring it up until upgrading to Vault to 3.1.1, and the problem is in there. If you try to create a new folder in the Vault GUI, and at any point type a comma, it does nothing. I assume the comma was at some point considered an invalid character, which I think is a mistake.

My GM is standing over my shoulder and his face looks like this:

It was possible to rename folders with a "," in the name in 2.0.6 but not in 3.0.7. We were trying to avoid the use of special characters in folder and filenames. I'll log a bug to revisit the use of commas.

Sounds like you got a bit carried away with what you considered special. Commas aren't special. They're downright boring.
