Unable to use Multiple VSS database servers

Post by rradhakrishnan » Wed Aug 03, 2005 9:46 am

We have two server machines with VSS databases. The SOS server is running in one of those servers. There is no problem in connecting to and using the VSS databases in the same machine. However, when I try to connect to the second server, I get the "unable to connect to server" message.
I use a domain logon account for the service and it has admin priveleges to both the machines. The database in second server has been declared with the UNC. The key I am using for the second server was correctly generated and imported. We also have adequate number of licenses.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Are there any error messages in the log file? In particular in the SOS Server start-up portion, is there anything about Invalid Database or Database does not exist?

Does the the account used by the SOS Server service have read/write access to the machine/drive directory where the VSS database is installed? Check directory security to see if that account is explicitly listed there.
