VSS 6.0 database and sourceoffsite

Post by djones » Thu Jul 28, 2005 9:59 am

I am having an issue that we are using an existing VSS database with numerous projects and we have implemented sourceoffsite so that clients can check in/out documents.

Issue: clients are seeing our complete project list even though they only have rights to a certain project in VSS. I need to control what clients see.

current projects

root
customer implementation
customer shared documents
client a
client b
product development

Client a I want to only have them see customer shared documents \ client a and no other sub folders under customer shared documents and also I do not want them to see the other folders.

What version of the VSS Automation Component is installed on the SOS Server machine? The version of the ssapi.dll can determine how SOS honors project rights.

Details on how to find out are here:

VSS automation component

Post by Guest » Thu Jul 28, 2005 12:27 pm

We are having issues trying to find the VSS automation component - but my network people have provided the following:
there are many ssapi.dll's; versions I have seen so far are: 6.0.81.69; 6.6.0.88.35
both for product version 6.00.0000

does this help? how would we find the VSS automation component version?

Thank you

This KB article tells how to find out.

Basically you're looking for the ssapi.dll included with the VSS client on the SOS Server machine.

I'd suggest you upgrade to VSS 6.0d for the version of VSS on the SOS Server machine. With this version, SOS should properly honor VSS project rights.
