I was just realizing that when researching a bug, I frequently want to get a copy of an older version of a source file (sometimes of a couple of older versions).
I don't actually want to "get" it in the Vault sense, where Vault now thinks that my local version is this old version, and when I get this copy I usually want it in the same directory as the "live" copy, but with a different name (my convention is to append the version number as an extension).
I'd really like an option on the history dialog's item context menu for "get copy as..." that asked for a new file name as well as path (with the path defaulting to the working directory).
What I have to do now is get the old version, rename it and then get the top version again.

Enh. Req. UI to get a copy of old version w/ new name

Have you thought of branching the file (making a copy) into the same folder? Show History on the file and choose Branch. This gives you the opportunity to rename it, plus you don't have to add it to the repository -- the branch operation does that for you.
