What would happen if Vault local cache is deleted?

If the following folder is deleted:

C:\Documents and Settings\(WinLogin)\Application Data\SourceGear\Vault_1\Client\(Repository GUID)\(WinLogin)

Q1- How much extra traffic will incur for the next connection to Vault Server?

Q2- What are the possible consequences (inability to merge? lose something? etc.)

Q3- Are there any benefits in clearing this folder? Beside the fact that it reclaims a lot of hard disk space.

Q1- How much extra traffic will incur for the next connection to Vault Server?

Some -- the server will need to send a new tree and new baseline files for the next Get by the Client. It's not a big performance hit, unless everyone does it at once. Cache files will be recreated for the client.

Q2- What are the possible consequences (inability to merge? lose something? etc.)

You'll need to reset working directories. File status will be Unknown. You may be be able to use the CRC option in the GUI Client to determine the status of Unknown files, or you may have to do a "Get Latest."

Q3- Are there any benefits in clearing this folder? Beside the fact that it reclaims a lot of hard disk space.

You might reduce the size slightly, but all baseline files are still needed. If the information in the GUI client isn't quite right -- duplicate folders, files appearing checked out when they really aren't -- then clearing recreating the cache files will help.
