Unable to connect VSS
Just to add more on the prevoius post:
I am connecting sucessfully to the remote system using VPN. how ever I can use windows VSS client as usual, but for the SOS it does not work. I can also ping the remote machine using an IP address,
In sos i give the server name as above IP and port 8080 after conneting to the remote network via VPN
do i need to do some settings.

Is the SOS Server running? Can other users connect?
What error message do you get when you try to connect?
Can you telnet to the port that is used by the SOS Server? Try this test:
telnet <your servername or IP> <portnumber>
Example:
telnet sos.sourceoffsite 8888
