Source Offsite support for MS Visual Studio 2005
Are there plans (or a need) for an upgrade to SourceOffsite in support of Visual Source Safe 2005? VSS2005 is out at the beta2 level and I believe will be available commercially in Aug or Sept. I've already tested it against my V6 databases with no problems so far. Will the existing 4.x or 3.5x servers work with the VSS2005 client?
The honest answer is... we don't know at this point. We have done some testing against VSS 2K5, and have found at least one bug in its automation dll which we've passed on to Microsoft.
It's virtually certain than no 3.x server will ever officially support VSS 2005, but that doens't mean that it won't work. If changes are needed in our server, we'll put out an update specifically for it. However, we won't set the engines moving on this until it goes Golden and we know precisely what we're dealing with.
