Service Starts then stops. (Just installed XP SP2)

Are there any known issues using Source Offsite Server with the new Windows XP SP2?

I just upgraded to SP2, and now when ever I try to start the SourceOffsite service I get this:

---------------------------
Services
---------------------------
The SourceOffSite 4 Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

The log.txt file shows this:

This was never an issue until I installed SP2. I tried turning the firewall off and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas??

Service Starts then stops

I just upgraded to XP SP2 with no problems. Is your SourceSafe database local to the machine where the SOS server is running, or is it on the network? My database is local to the machine where the SOS server is running. From your log file it seems as though the server service either can't see your srcsafe.ini file or it no longer has permission to access it ...

We had another report of this and found that for some reason, the installation adds quotes to the path to SOSSvrSvs in the registry.

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1711

It doesn't seem to affect all machines, though.

Open Regedit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SosSvrSvc.net

If there are quotes around

C:\Program Files\SourceOffSite Server4\SosService.exe,

delete them and the service should now start.

I'm running SourceOffSite on a Windows 2003 server and was facing the same problem. Infact SOS worked fine for a few days then suddenly gave these problems.

This solution works though!

Same in 2003 Server

Quotes around the path

I installed 2003 server SP 1 and got the same thing. Removed the quotes and the service started fine

Yes, this issue is showing up on all operating systems with newer service packs. The good news is that it will be fixed in SOS 4.1.2, due out in another month or two.
