Cannot start the SOS service

Post by Whatever... » Sun Jun 12, 2005 12:20 am

I have instaslled the latest SOS (V4.1 with 10 permanent licences) with crypto on server 2003 which has all the latest windows updates (incdluding .NET and SourceSafe V6)

After adding my license key, and a username, I cannot start the sourcesafe service at all. A prompt tells me that the service started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do.

The event log has the following information:
ID: SosSvrSvc.net
Category: None
Event ID: 0

-------------------------------------
Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.
at System.IO.Path.Combine(String path1, String path2)
at ClassicService.Server.Startup(String[] args)
at ClassicService.ClassicService.OnStart(String[] args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
-------------------------------------

I have a valid Sourcesafe database specified on the local machine, I can open it fine with Sourcesafe..

Can you offer any suggestions please? This is urgent.

Thanks,
Grant
