We run SOS Server v3.5.2 and we have 38 licenses, scattered throughout the world. Local users use VSS client. We don't plan on upgrading to Server v4.1; we're currently evaluating new SCM systems, including Perforce and SourceGear Vault.
I just downloaded and installed Client v4.1. I am running it against our Server v.3.5.2 and everything seems to work fine despite the v4.1 ReadMe's warning against doing this very thing.
Does anybody know specifically why Client v4.1 is not compatible with Server v3.5.2?
Thanks.

SOS Client v4.1 with SOS Server v3.5.2

Yes, you can connect to an SOS 3.x server with the SOS 4.1 client and do some basic operations. But some Get by Label operations don't work. Also the Command Line Client doesn't work properly in some cases.
There may be more issues; we haven't fully tested SOS 4.1 with SOS 3.5.x.
Many new features and bug fixes in SOS 4.1 were implemented on the SOS Server side, so you wouldn't get the benefit of any of those.
Is there something specific you hope to gain by using the SOS 4.1 client without the 4.1 server?
