ERROR: System administrator has set policies to prevent...

Post by brettski » Fri Jun 03, 2005 11:59 am

Greetings,

I messed up my uninstall of Vault client (3.0.1) and now when I try install any version (trying a newer one) I receive an error:

"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."

Could you please tell me how to reset whatever so I may install the client. The server installs fine and is accessible.

Thank you,

brettski

The Vault Server installer will also install the Vault client and Admin Tool. Check to see if you already have a client in Program Files\SourceGear.

The message you are seeing is generated when there's already a client on the machine.

Yes, thank you, the client was installed. It was version 3.0.1 though and wouldn't run from the shortcuts in the start menu.

Uninstalling and re-installing vault server didn't work. The client, even though selected, doesn't load. All I get are two rtf files in the client directory.

Again I uninstalled Vault server. I still cannot install the client. Then I reboot and I still can't install the client.

A pointer for anyone reading this post:

Try renaming or deleting the Vault Client directory and then reinstalling the client.

If that doesn't work, you may need to delete any references to the Vault client from the registry.

If it comes to a manual cleanout of the registry, delete anything contianing this GUID:

Thanks.

Before you sent the last post, I deleted vault references in the registry. Pretty much took care of it. The GUID is a safer way.

A reminder clicking cancel during uninstall, bad. :)
