Unable to Connect to Server

Post by VP » Thu Feb 24, 2005 7:35 am

When opening SourceOffsite client to connect to the server at the specified IP and Port, it gives an error "Unable to connect to the server".

My LAN settings are not set for use of any Proxy Server.

Are there any specific settings required at my client, which is preventing me to connect to the server?

See this KB article for some ways to troubleshoot this.

unable to connect to server

Post by SquallWang » Tue May 31, 2005 2:33 am

hi, linda

Before we use the server A as SOS 4.1 server, all the tests and services work properly. Because that server has too heavy work load, we select another server named B as the SOS 4.1 server. But problem appears. The server is located at US and our local clients are at Shanghai. Sometimes we can connect to the server, sometimes not. I try to telnet to the server based on your article, sometimes it will take about 20 seconds to get the message from the server, and the client will say " unable to connect to server". And the return information is as follows:
------------------------------
250
Protocol-Version:2.0
Message-ID:00000000
Database Aliases:AAA,BBB,CCC,DDD and so on(here is just the example)
Content-Length:948
Key Length:16
.......

-------------------------------
Is the status 250 the proper status?
And can I set the waiting time a liltle longer in SOS to make the connection successful, e.g. I set it to 30 seconds and the connection will succeed if the connection time is 20 seconds.
Everything will be better:)

We have our problem solved. After we add the DNS suffix, we can connect to server using SOS client successfully.

Thanks
Everything will be better:)
