File checkout status in Visual Studio 2003 Integration

Post by bamitchell » Thu May 26, 2005 2:25 pm

When using SourceOffSite as the default SCC provider for Visual Studio 2003 development, we are not seeing any indication that a file is checked out by another user. In SourceSafe, you get a slashed circle icon in front of the filename when a file is checked out by another developer, whereas SourceOff Site displayed the same padlock icon used by an unchecked-out file. When you try to check out a file under these circumstances you get an ugly "Unable to lock file ..." message followed by "... - File was not checked out" message

I am hoping this is just a matter of not having configured properly. Is it possible to have SourceOffSite behave as SourceSafe does or is this just something we have to live with? What we are looking for is some sort of visual indication when a file is checked out by another user.

Thanks

In the IDE, SOS does not show checkouts by another user. You could keep the GUI client open to see the checkout status of the files, or enable multiple checkouts so that more than one user can checkout a file.

Thanks for the info. Just out of curiousity, does the Vault's Visual Studio integration show checkout's by other users?
