Branching Solutions

Hi

Would anyone be able to suggest a solid method of branching solution files with associated projects. The solution will obviously point to projects within different directories and when branched will need to reference the branched projects.

We will obviously also need to merge these solutions and project back into the live/trunk project.

Any suggestions or help of how other people manage this would be great?
