I'm currently working on web devopment kind of project. And all the devopment files is
stored on a web server.
Our team is considering using Visual sourcesafe 6.0, since our team is still using visual
studio 6.0.
Our development is focused on mostly asp scripts and database transaction.
So my question is how do i setup the server to act as the VSS server. Currently all i have
done is installed the Visual studio 6 along with visual sourcesafe on my computer.
And how do i setup the connection so that other computers can access to my vss server which
is my pc.
Plus would it be better if we were to put the web server and the vss server on the same
computer or would it be better to put them on different servers?
thanks in advance
How to setup vss 6.0

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question, or you are confused. Here at Sourcegear, we make and support Vault, which is a replacement for VSS. The VSS Import functionality in Vault is designed to be run by people who have already been running VSS for a while, and have data that must be included when they switch over to Vault. If you're not currently using VSS, there's no reason to worry about importing anything to Vault.
With all that said, I think the usual way that people share a VSS database inside a LAN is to share the folder that the VSS database is in on the server computer. Users who have installed the VSS components on their desktops can then connect to \\server\sharename\srcsafe.ini
VSS does not have support for exposing access to source control through a web service, but Vault does. Also, you should not think that Visual Studio 6 only supports VSS. Vault integrates with Visual Studio 6 just fine.

Also, SourceGear has a VSS remoting tool called SourceOffsite?
