Suggestion: user rights

Post by ido » Mon Apr 11, 2005 4:42 am

What I would appreciate is the ability to control user right in folders and files separately. The reason behind it is that I don’t mind giving the users full control over their project (including add/rename/remove FILES) but don’t want them to mess the tree structure or start “projects” on their own. Is there a way to do it? or will I get a line on the wish list ?? :-)

Security rights in Vault can be set at the folder level, but not on individual files.

You could give a user full control over a particular folder but no control or read control over the rest of the tree. Of course as you noted, this wouldn't prevent them from adding subfolders to or rearranging the project over which they do have control.

I'll add this to the "wish list."

suggestion : delete right to be a seperate right

Reverting deleted files is a bigger a deal than retrieving previous versions of an existing file. Thats why delete right should be a seperate right not add/change/delete.
