FogBugz Notification Question

Post by hobie2 » Tue Mar 22, 2005 3:55 pm

Hi,

I've set up an ASP page to spoof a FogBugz server
so that I can get notification when users check in files.
However, if someone fails to enter the "Update Bugs"
field info, no call is made. We're using v2.0.6. Is this
behavior the same in 3.x? We're trying to enforce the
provision of bug #s with each check-in.

Thanks!
hobie

Vault 3.0.x has email notfications built in.

In the 3.0.x Gui Client, you can choose paths in the Vault tree to "watch" and you will get an email notification when things are checked in under yor "watch" paths. If you upgraded to the curreent version of Vault you may not need the FogBugz spoof :)

provision of bug #s with each check-in.
The current version of Vault does not have an option force a bug ID. However in the next major Vault release, Version 3.1, there will be an option in the Admin Tool to force users to enter a bug id during a checkin of a modified file.

I've also found the "unsupported" undocumented feature of the RSS feed from the Vault server to be really helpful for keeping track of what's being checked in.
