I just upgraded our Vault Server, Admin Client, and Vault Client from v2.0.5 to 3.0.5. Upgrade went well on the installation end, but I am getting the following error when I try to connect through the Client or the Admin:
This Vault server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client.
I read in the forums that that message is displayed if a 2.0 client tries to connect to a 3.0 server. That is definitely not the case here because I have upgraded all three applications.
I can connect successfully to the VaultService, both remotely and locally, through the URL http://phx-safe-01:8000/VaultService/VaultService.asmx
I also read that I should turn on logging and provide the output, so here it is (for all classes in the Vault GUI Client):

No. This is a Vault Client installed on my machine. The version reads 3.0.5.
The really odd thing is that I went to the serverInstall.html file and it reads 2.0.4.2190 with an installation date of 8/9/2004. I just installed the app today.
Is there any way to check the version of Vault Server that's currently installed?
Thanks,
Bill

Do you have an old Vault 2.0.x client at hand? You could try to connect with that.
Or you could look at the Vault server binary files located in the bin/ where the web service was installed. (ex: %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\wwwroot\vaultservice\bin). Pick a file (ex: vaultservicebase.dll), and look at the version properties.
If the server is still running at Vault 2.0.x, you might want to make a backup of the Vault database, Uninstall the server (make sure you keep the database), and re-install (make sure to keep the database) Vault 3.0.5
