I have searched for this question in the forums and have found nothing so I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before.
Is it possible to install multiple versions of the Vault Client on the same workstation?
The reason that I ask is because I do work for a number of companies and I have found that they use different server versions of Vault, some as low as version 1.2.3.
Since the version 3 of the client isn't compatible with the version 1 server application, it would be handy to be able to install and run different versions of the client tool too use as necessary.
Any thoughts?
Multiple Client Versions On One Machine?

You can run different versions of the clinet on the same machine, but they'll share registry entries, so some odd things may happen due to changes in what is actutally stored in the registry by different versions.
You should be able to install 1.2.3 and copy the folder holding the Vault executable to another path. Upgrade to 2.whatever and do the same. Upgrading again to 3.0.2 shoule leave you with 3 functioning clients.
There could potentially be some more oddness if one of the older servers is upgraded, as the client cache will be in an old format and you won't be able to run the update installation, since you'll already have a newer client installed. If this happens, you'll have to reset all of your working folders and re-get everything.

How Does this Affect Vault IDE Integration?
Brody,
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried this yet, as I am wondering what impact this might have on how vault is integrated with IDEs, specifically Visual Studio.
Would Visual Studio be associated with the last client installed?
Best regards,
Ray

If you use the IDE, note that the installer changes registry settings for SCCServer path in this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceGear\Vault Client. If you just installed Vault 3.0 but want to use IDE integration with Vault 2.0, you'd need to edit this path to point to the correct Vault Client directory: C:\Program Files\SourceGear\<Vault Client v.2 dir>\VaultIDE.dll.
Note, we haven't tested this other than to see if the IDE client can connect to the appropriate server.
