Dragnet Collab Import Hangs

Post by dcogley » Mon Nov 29, 2004 1:07 pm

I am running the Dragnet import uttility to import all of our collaboration and bug database into the new Dragnet system. The import utillity gets all the way to "Importing Attachments" and then freezes indefinatly. We currently do not have any attachments tied to any bugs. The server is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I have allowed the import utillity to run for about an hour now and the status bar has not moved.

Thanks,

Same problem

Post by Charles Monk » Fri Jan 28, 2005 5:14 am

We tried running the import yesterday and encountered an apparently identical problem. The import tool hanged at the 'Importing Attachments' stage. Only one project got stuck like this, but it's our biggest one and we do need the data.

We were using Dragnet_CollabImport_1_0_1.zip, which seems to be the latest available version of the tool.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround? Maybe you could post the information here for all users. Just phoning the previous correspondent and not following up here rather undermines the idea of a support forum like this, doesn't it?

Regards, CM.

Three makes a crowd

I see the same problem when importing the soscollab bug attachments the import wizard hangs at “importing attachments”. Eventually the query its trying to run times out and I get the error popup attached.

How long does it take to timeout?

Time out

Post by Teaboy » Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:49 am

Between 9 and 24 hours to pop up the error box.
I started the import in the morning and checked it before I went home, and it was not displaying any error, I left it over night and when I checked in the morning it was.

Out of curiousity, can you execute the command in SQL Query Analyzer after doing a "use ggdata" command? How long does it take? How many rows are returned?

Query analysed

Running the query in Query analyzer against the GGData data base returned 274 rows, it was too quick to register on the timer so less than a second.

Could you send the output of the command in a comma separated file to me using the email button below?

Dragnet_Collab_Import 1.0.2 hangs

Post by TBiker » Tue Feb 15, 2005 9:26 pm

I am trying to import 3 projects from SOSCE 1.1.2 into Dragnet 1.0.2 using the 1.0.2 collab import utility. As reported by others under this topic, the tool hangs when it comes to importing attachments. I do have a fair number of attachments connected to various bugs in these projects. What is the solution here?

When I last talked to Tristan on the phone, I told him to try to do the import on the database machine instead of a different machine. He hasn't contacted me again, so I can only assume that his problems went away. Are you running the import on the same machine that has the SQL database?

Database on same machine

Post by TBiker » Wed Feb 16, 2005 9:56 am

Yes. The import is being performed on the same machine as the SQL server database and the SOSCE database.

I've still got your phone number from a previous conversation. I'm going to give you a call.

Terry has helped me track this down, and there is a new version of the collab import to use. http://download.sourcegear.com/files/Dr ... 1_0_2b.zip

This worked for us

Post by Charles Monk » Wed Feb 23, 2005 8:47 am

This latest version of the import tool worked fine for us, and now we have managed to import all our SOSCE projects.
