Performance Fine over LAN but slow via internet

When I connect to the repository via [servername\vaultservice] over the local area network performance is great. If I connect to the repository via [qtelligent.homeip.net:8080/vaultservice/] performance is very poor when I do a getlatest. Even if I am on the local area network performance is very slow when I enter the ip address. I am running Windows Server 2003 IIS 6.0 and SQL Server 2000. What are some possible resolutions?

You'll have to take a look at your actual network to determine the problem. There is a lot of missing information, that may be causing the problem:

- Are you using a VPN?
- Type of Internet connection of the server?
- Type of Internet connection on the client?
- Firewall / Proxy server involved?
- Any hubs involved on the client side?

You may want to try a trace route from the client. Also, have you tried dropping the /vaultservice from the server hostname. hostname:port should be sufficient to connect to the server.
